How to get to Kirtipur

There are several ways to reach Kirtipur from Kathmandu. The most common modes of transportation are by local bus, taxi, or rental car.

I would recommend either walking if you are staying near Patan or Sanepa, or getting a Pathao when leaving from Kathmandu.

By Local Bus

Local buses are a popular choice for getting to Kirtipur. You can find them at the Old Bus Park near Ratna Park in Kathmandu. Buses depart every 15-20 minutes and the journey typically takes around 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. It’s an affordable option, but it might be a bit crowded during peak hours.

By Taxi

Taxis are a faster and more comfortable alternative to buses. You can find taxis throughout Kathmandu. Just tell the driver you want to go to Kirtipur and they’ll take you there. The journey should take around 20-30 minutes. Keep in mind that taxis in Kathmandu often don’t use meters, so it’s best to agree on a price before you start your journey.

By Rental Car

If you prefer a bit more independence and comfort, you could consider renting a car. There are many rental car companies in Kathmandu where you can rent a car for a day or longer. The drive to Kirtipur is straightforward and should take around 20 minutes.
